Four years have passed since that fateful day in the forest. Edward never came back, imploring his family to do the same. Though his memories of his love are strong, the same cannot be said for his other half. Isabella Marie Swan no longer exists, and has been replaced by the mother-to-be Isabella Marie Black, married to the one-and-only Jacob Black, now alpha to the Quileute pack. It is everything that Billy and Charlie could ever ask for, and Renee is absolutely ecstatic to see her grandson. Everything is going well for the young family, and things couldn’t get better.
However, it seems they can get worse. Suddenly the atmosphere has changed. The pack is growing at an alarming rate, the youth on the reserve shifting much earlier than they had before. They all know what this means, but they refuse to talk about it, for it can only mean one thing: the vampires are back.
It isn’t just any vampires who have returned, but the ever-famous Cullen family. Carlisle has resumed his employment at the hospital, and Edward yearns to see his beloved once more, if only to make sure that she is alive. Alice has been unable to see her, for reasons they have yet to explain. But the transition back into life in Forks isn’t quite so simple as they thought it would be, for the treaty has been rendered null.
During the Cullen’s absence, a nomad vampire took the life of a human in Forks. The threat was quieted, however Jacob, as the new Alpha, realized the severity of the situation and declared it open season on any vampire who set foot in the area. But now that the Cullens have returned, he is conflicted. They always were different, and yet vampires still the same. Jacob will not let his wife know of their return; the knowledge has been kept amongst the pack and the pack only. As time wears on Bella grows lonely, knowing that her husband is keeping something from her. What will happen in the the quiet an unsuspecting town, no one can know for sure. One thing is certain, however; things will never be the same again.
